Homework Hub Online Policy
Online Lesson Scheduling: Please contact the student to schedule your lesson and introduce yourself. If you or the student need to change a scheduled online lesson or add an additional lesson, please feel free to contact the parents directly and the parents may contact you as well. It is in good faith that we allow such communication. It is very important to notify the Homework Hub by text (516) 423-2543 of such changes so it can be documented.
Zoom Video Conferencing: We use the Zoom platform for our online tutoring. Please visit our website to learn how to navigate Zoom at https://www.homeworkhubtutoring.com/zoom-online. If you do not have access to your own Zoom link, please contact the office so we can set you up with an account from Homework Hub. Zoom offers features such as sharing their screen, drawing/writing on the screen, and much more.
Online Etiquette: For optimal learning, please limit all distractions in the room - cell phones, TV, pets, family members, etc. We recommend that all students sit at a desk or a table where they can focus best. Please use a laptop or a desktop since smart phones and tablets do not have the same interactive capabilities. It is important to make sure you and your student have the video option turned on. We strongly suggest not using a virtual background. The interaction between teachers and students is the key to success.
Minimum Session Length: The minimum length of each online session is 1 hour. Occasionally students will have other obligations that cut our lessons short. In this case, we will still bill for the full hour. Please schedule lessons accordingly.
Lesson Duration: Lessons exceeding 1 hr. are rounded to the nearest 1/4 of an hr. and billed accordingly.
Payment: Please do not accept payment from the clients. Homework Hub will handle all payment transactions. In order to document each lesson, please fill out the lesson summary on our website (under Staff Forms) within 48 hours of the session. Once Homework Hub receives your summary, we will read over and email it directly to the parent/s. It is then that your lesson is considered complete and you will be paid for your services.
Policy: In order to maintain scheduling flexibility for both you and the students, HwH has a 24hr cancellation policy. Lessons that are cancelled with less than 24-hours notice can be charged in full. However, to give families extra flexibility, teachers must be notified by 10 a.m. on the day of lesson in order to be paid for their time. This policy is not meant to be punitive to the families, but is in place out of respect for the value of your time. However, if the cancellation is due to sickness or an emergency, it is up to your discretion if you want to charge for that lesson. In the event you are charging for a late cancellation, please contact the office and ask how you can assist during this hour. If you prefer not to assist, you will opt out of being paid.
